The Libella Seat Junior is an individually adjustable corrective anti-bedsore seat adapted to children, teenagers and people of smaller stature. The configuration and customisation options are based on the Libella Seat Varia, but in seat widths starting from 26 cm and seat depths starting from 28 cm. Analysis during the development process has shown the need for a more pronounced disproportion between seat width and seat depth, which is why we can also produce the Libella Seat Junior in narrower but deeper dimensions.
How is Libella Seat Junior designed?
- Lightweight, durable and strong carbon sandwich base helps maintain the shape of the seat cushion and ensures that its features and settings do not change during use. It is available in 3 basic designs - full and with relief holes in two positions. Other custom adjustments are also available.
- A layer of ergonomically shaped 3D printed parts that can be replaced or moved according to the user's needs. There are more than 50 variations with different contours, densities and sizes.
- A thin layer of 3D fabric as a transition between the 3D parts and the latex layer provides additional wear protection for the inner parts and allows for better weight distribution.
- Soft anti-bedsore foam latex layer with five ergonomic cut-outs in the most common decubitus areas. The layer increases thermal comfort, its perforations promote air circulation and wick away moisture.
- Superior functional 3D breathable fabric cover that fits tightly, distributes pressure and does not bunch. Combined with the mesh base, it allows air to flow through all layers of the cushion. The cover comes with a handle or pocket of the customer's choice for easy handling of the cushion and is available in four color combinations.
Who is Seat Junior for?
We developed the Libella Seat Junior primarily for paediatric wheelchair users of various types (mechanical and electric) and settings with a risk of developing decubitus in the seating area and to improve their posture in pathological pelvic position, spinal curvature and increase the stability of the seat.
The seating system is designed for wheelchair users with various diagnoses (spinal cord injuries - paraplegia, quadriplegia, etc., Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, lower limb amputations, etc.) in the home and normal daily environment.
The most common pathological positions of the pelvis and spine for which the cushion can create the necessary correction of sitting like Obliquity (oblique pelvis), Rotated pelvis, Pelvic anteversion, Pelvic retroversion and others.
With the help of a correct sitting assessment and seat adjustment by an occupational therapist, it is possible to prevent the development of decubitus on the sitting parts by relieving the protrusions on the sitting parts (sitting bumps, tailbone, hip joints) and distributing the pressure under the pelvis and thighs (the sitting assessment also includes measuring the pressure of the wheelchair user's sitting parts on the surface of the sitting pad). At the same time, however, it is recommended to regularly relieve the sitting parts of the body on the mat. Alone or with assistance, you can use relief techniques recommended by health professionals.
